I have a Historical and Political Issues class this quarter at school, and this blog is how I will be earning part of my grade. In class last week we were asked to write down our knowledge of the Constitution. As I began writing, I put my pen to my piece of paper and SLOWLY...began writing. It was in that first class of the quarter when I realized that I really don't know every much about our government. I know its quite sad, but it's the honest truth. I''m hoping that his quarter I learn a lot, because we are lucky people to even have the oppurtunity to contribute our opinions and our thoughts in the elections that our held. Somedays I think that because it's something we have a choice to do, that we take advantage and don't get as invovled as maybe we should. Anywho, now that I have ranted this is what I found myself writing when I stuck my pen to my paper...
"...Honestly I don't know about a lot of things that are writtten in our Constitution. What I do know is that it talks about 'We the People' at the very beginning. It talks about 'We the People' because it was created for the people, and by the people of the United States. I also know that the Third Amendment talks about how 'We the People' have the right to bear arms. Besides this information I can't really think of anything else that I know."
This is what I was able to come up with in class in the few minutes that we had to think about it. It's not a lot...but hopefully after the next ten weeks I will be able to say more than a few sentences about the Constitution, on which is country was founded on.
Here is to learning something new :)
Nice, you are honest, that is good. I hope that you can learn a TON this semester about our Constitution and what goes on in the world of politics, because it has an impact on you!
